Dell Outlines More Ubuntu 8.04 Details

Last week Dell started shipping Ubuntu 8.04 PCs and even with a Dell option for ATI graphics. Today a few more details surrounding Dell's adoption of Ubuntu 8.04 "Hardy Heron" have been shared.

In a Direct2Dell blog post, John Hull (Dell's Linux OS Engineering Manager) has detailed some of the other Ubuntu changes that come with this Hardy adoption. Dell is now adding in the Fluendo GStreamer codecs to provide MP3/WMA/WMV support, the biometric fingerprint readers are now supported on XPS notebooks, there is now the ATI graphics option, and last but not least there is HDMI audio support for those using NVIDIA or ATI graphics.
