Quake Wars Linux Demo Coming Soon
Id Software's Linux guy, Timothee Besset, previously shared that the Linux client of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars would be out in a few weeks. In that community announcement he had not directly talked about a Linux client demo for ET: Quake Wars, however, that too is on the way. As there have been Linux demos for both Doom 3 and Quake 4, it should be no surprise that there will be on for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars as well. From an announcement on id Software's closed beta list, it sounds like the ET:QW v1.1 demo may even be out before the retail Linux client.
Once available, the Linux demo client should weigh in between 600~700 megabytes and includes one demo campaign with LAN and Internet game-play support. Both the Linux retail client and v1.1 demo have been playing well here internally (even on ATI's new driver). We'll have more information on Enemy Territory: Quake Wars for Linux once it's been released (very soon). If you missed it, earlier this week id Software had also released a ET:QW v1.1 (Release 4) server update for Linux.
