Ubuntu's Mir Finally Supports Drag & Drop
With Mir 1.0 expected to be coming soon, the developers working on this display server for Ubuntu Linux are tackling the remaining work items, some are larger than others.
Besides still working on Vulkan support, Mir today picked up another important feature: support for drag and drop.
Up to now Mir didn't support the concept of drag-and-drop, but with an 86KB patch to Mir, it now does. The big patch landed today thanks to the work by Canonical's Alan Griffiths.
Those curious about Mir's support for drag-and-drop can dig through this commit enabling the support.
With Ubuntu 17.04, Unity 8 + Mir remains an experimental non-default option while for Ubuntu 17.10 they are hoping to have the new desktop ready for rolling out with hopes of having all issues ironed out by Ubuntu 18.04 LTS next April.
