Microsoft has open-sourced their WebGL implementation used by the modern Edge browser on Windows.

They say "a select number of files from the implementation of WebGL that ships in the Microsoft Edge browser" is now opened up on GitHub. They hope opening the code will lead to better interoperability and being able to fix cross-browser implementations.

A Phoronix reader also pointed out as part of this code they have opened up GLSLparse, their OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL) to HLSL transpiler code for taking OpenGL shaders into Direct3D.

More details on this newly-opened code via GitHub.
