Mesa 10.5 Release Brings Skylake Support, NIR IR

Emil Velikov announced the much anticipated release of Mesa 10.5 this evening, which is the quarterly update to this open-source (primarily Linux) user-space graphics stack.

Mesa 10.5 lacks official support for OpenGL 4 but is nevertheless another important update. Mesa 10.5 delivers initial Intel Skylake graphics support when paired with Linux 3.19+, Adreno 4xx GPU support when also using a modern kernel, experimental EGL support for Haiku, the new NIR intermediate representation, various new GL4 extensions have been implemented, and a number of other internal changes.
