Steam Linux Usage Is Almost Back Up To 1.2%
The Steam hardware/software survey has been updated with its October 2014 data and it reflects slightly larger Linux gaming market-share.
According to the new survey data, Steam Linux usage rose 0.12% over October to now yield a 1.18% Linux market-share. This might be attributable to CS:GO on Linux, Borderlands on Linux, and other high-profile games coming natively to Linux.
Of the 1.18% of gamers on Steam running Linux, the most popular distribution is Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS 64-bit with 0.52% of the overall stake followed by Linux Mint 17, Linux 3.10 (likely Arch-based distributions), and then the 32-bit version of Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS.
Windows lost 0.14% of the Steam share last month according to this survey while OS X rose by 0.07%.
