Linux 3.18 Gets Better Wacom Tablet & Sony Controller Support

Jiri Kosina of SUSE Labs sent in the HID 3.18 changes that include an "always-poll" quirk to poll devices more aggressively, fixes/updates/new support to the SONY driver, a port of uHID to the new transport layer layout, various fixes, numerous device ID additions, and native support for "hopefully any future" HID-compliant Wacom tablets. Jiri explained about the Wacom tablet work, "Those found on the various laptops (ISDv4/5) already are HID compliant and they should work in the future without any modification of the kernel."
The Wacom tablet work for the Linux 3.18 kernel also includes adding support for the Cintiq Companion tablet. This forthcoming kernel also has support for the PenMount HID TouchScreen. The uHID (User-Space HID I/O) driver work for the Linux 3.18 kernel was done by David Herrmann, also a contributor to the Linux DRM stack. Among the Sony HID changes for Linux 3.18 are correctly setting the Sixaxis cable state, corrections for the DualShock 4, updating the DualShock 4 touchpad resolution, and other changes.
The HID 3.18 merge window changes can be read about via this mailing list post.
