New Group Calls For Boycotting Systemd
A new project has been established that's trying to boycott systemd and the Linux distributions utilizing systemd.
Four years after its initial release, systemd remains a very controversial project for a variety of reasons and it remains one of the most discussed topics within our forums. Many don't like systemd due to pulling in udev, its growing features like new user-space VT work to having a built-in DHCP server, Lennart Poettering's radical ideas for trying to improve Linux and it coming with sweeping changes, to a variety of other reasons. Individual(s) have now established BoycottSystemd.org as a concerted effort trying to express the negative aspects of systemd.
BoycottSystemd.org bashes systemd for its journal files in a "complicated binary format", it being "anti Unix", it being a single point of failure, forced dependencies like udev and Dbus, its increasing complexity, and a variety of other reasons. This group is calling for a boycott of Linux distributions using systemd and changing to OSes that follow "traditional Unix paradigms", propose potential migration to BSD, and work on furthering other alternatives to systemd.
