Linus Torvalds is back to his rhythm of releasing new kernel release candidates on Sundays.

After Linux 3.17-rc2 was released last Monday to celebrate 23 years of Linux, Torvalds is now back in Portland and doing his Sunday release rhythm.

There are more changes in Linux 3.17-rc3 than there was in 3.17-rc2 since LinuxCon and the Linux Kernel Summit wrapped-up with most developers having been back for the better part of the past week to return to their kernel development activities. While 3.17-rc3 was larger, there doesn't appear to be anything particularly noteworthy about the bug-fixes over the past week. The brief and unexciting release announcement for 3.17-rc3 can be read via the IU LKML as usual.

The Linux 3.17 kernel brings many new features and we've already been busy for a while now testing and benchmarking Linux 3.17 while plenty more performance tests are still forthcoming along with other exciting Linux hardware reviews.

Expect the official Linux 3.17 kernel to premiere in either late September or early October.
