Epic Games has begun financially supporting the open-source Blender modeling software to improve the workflow for artists with Unreal Engine 4.

Epic donated 10k EUR / $13.5k USD to the Blender Development Fund. Out of that donation, they're hoping for greater FBX work and Epic-Game-Style navigation controls to improve the ability for Blender artists to export their assets to Unreal Engine 4.

Confirmation of this investment into Blender was confirmed by the organization's Ton Roosendaal on Twitter with additional details via this post by Alexander Paschall of Epic.
