California Announced: A GNOME 3 Calendar
California is a new GNOME 3 app that's a feature-rich calendar and developed by Yorba, the organization behind the popular Geary, Shotwell, and other projects.
Caifornia was announced as a calendar app that aims to be simple to setup, quick and easy to use, and offers flexibility for each person's workflow.
The California calendar app has been in development since January and currently powered by the Evolution Data Server but support for other back-ends will likely come in the future.
Yorba decided to write their own GNOME 3 calendar app instead of improving GNOME Calendar because they wanted to use Vala instead of C and not liking the underlying design of GNOME Calendar.
More details on Yorba's California can be found via the blog post announcement.
