Ubuntu's Music App Undergoes Further Planning

The Qt-based Music App that in development for the phone/tablet versions of Ubuntu Linux that will eventually find its way to the desktop was a discussion item this morning on the final day of the virtual 14.03 Ubuntu Developer Summit.

One of the first sessions today was in regards to planning out the future of this Music App for Ubuntu given their mobile ambitions. While the Ubuntu Music App is still in its infancy, a pragmatic redesign is already in the works with a priority focus on tablet/desktop design and then a path towards the phone version with complete convergence. Among their upcoming work items besides the UI redesign is migrating to the new Media Hub and MediaScanner 2.0, bottom edge gestures for the phone/tablet implementation, Last.FM and Scrobble support, and other usability improvements for the phone version.
