Enlightenment's Ecore Now Has DRM Support

Enlightenment's Ecore library now has support for interfacing with the kernel's Direct Rendering Manager drivers.

After the Evas canvas library to Enlightenment gained DRM display support a few days ago, prolific Enlightenment contributor Chris Michael at Samsung added Ecore_DRM to the Git tree today.

Ecore_Drm provides library code for setting up DRM cards, outputs, virtual terminals, frame-buffers, and input. After Ecore sets up the DRM outputs, the Ecore_Evas DRM code can then start rendering to these DRM surfaces without depending upon Wayland, DirectFB, an X.Org Server, or any other display server.

Samsung appears to be working on running Enlightenment directly off DRM as part of their Tizen efforts and running Enlightenment as its own Wayland compositor.

The initial Ecore_DRM code landed this morning followed by other work.
