Enlightenment 1.9 Alpha Pre-Release Surfaces
We have been talking a whole lot about Enlightenment E19 already this year on Phoronix as while it's been just a few short months since the release of E18, there's already a lot to show for this next release. E19 can function as its own Wayland compositor writing a Wayland compositor being a huge challenge and better Wayland support all-around, the compositor itself has a huge rewrite, features other improvements, supports filters, and offers many bug-fixes. Another easy way to see the Enlightenment E19 highlights besides the many Phoronix articles is via Anzwix for looking at some of the top Git commits.
With all of the changes abound for the next release, it was a bit of a surprise yet exciting to see already today the 1.9 alpha 1 release tag for the key Enlightenment packages. There's new versions of the EFL libraries, Elementary, Emotion. Evas, and Enlightenment DR 0.9 today. An announcement for the Enlightenment alpha 1 pre-release was made today at the Enlightenment project site, but as usual it's in good humor out of these developers; the official announcement notes changes of flaming text, bug fixes?, and "some other stuff" as the new items in this release until the release notes have been written. Additionally, "Download now and also gain access to this limited edition snapshot of E19! See the crashes, the stutters, the effects, and experience once again the majesty and nostalgia of pre-alpha Enlightenment!"
Hit up Enlightenment.org for that release announcement and to download the source packages for these updated Enlightenment components.
