KDBUS Is Still Outstanding, Not Part Of The Mainline Kernel

LINUX KERNEL
While the KDBUS kernel D-Bus code was quick to advance and garner interest by upstream kernel developers and other stakeholders, with plans of merging KDBUS into the Linux kernel in 2014, it hasn't happened yet.

A Phoronix reader wrote in "tipping us" of a news post from early January about Greg Kroah-Hartman mentioning, "kdbus is almost ready, it might make 3.15, depending on the result of work that is happening at linux.conf.au and FOSDEM." Well, it didn't make it for Linux 3.15.

Some have also brought up KDBUS again since writing about yesterday some systemd development statistics. February's release of systemd already began working on KDBUS support and in the Fedora world it's been possible to get a working system with systemd and KDBUS for months.

Well, KDBUS landing didn't happen for the Linux 3.15 kernel. The merge window for the Linux 3.16 kernel will be open in June, but there's been no uptick in Linux kernel mailing list discussions about reviewing KDBUS or getting anything queued up for mainline nor is there any code for this kernel implementation of D-Bus living within linux-next. Greg's KDBUS repository also hasn't been touched in nearly one month. As soon as we learn anything more about KDBUS on approach for landing within the Linux kernel, you can expect to read about it on Phoronix.
