The Abnormally Long Linux 3.15-rc6 Kernel Released
The Linux 3.15-rc5 kernel was released almost two weeks ago and that was a quick release after -rc4, since Linus Torvalds was to be traveling over the following days, rather than doing the usual Sunday releases. Linus has continued merging a lot of regression/bug fixes while currently being in Japan. Linus hasn't officially sent out the 3.15-rc6 announcement at the time of writing, as the 3.15-rc6 was just tagged in Git minutes ago, but chances are he's not too happy with the amount of churn that's taken place for being this late in the release cycle.
Landing with Linux 3.15-rc6 has been fixes for the DRM graphics drivers, file-system fixes, and tons of other fixes throughout the kernel's many subsystems. While there aren't any major features in the post-merge-window time, the Linux 3.15 kernel overall has many exciting features to be excited for when this next kernel version is officially christened in the weeks ahead. We've already been delivering many Linux 3.15 benchmarks and more performance tests and other examinations under this new kernel are forthcoming on Phoronix.
