Junio Hamano has announced the fourth Git 2.0.0 release candidate with an expectation of shipping the final version quite soon with no more development releases planned.

Git 2.0 integrates many changes over Git 1.9, including the use of the "simple" mode by default when running git push, improvements to git add, performance improvements, many bug-fixes, and various other updates.

More details on Git 2.0.0 and its fourth RC version can be found via the release announcement for 2.0.0-rc4 that was announced a few hours ago.
