Just yesterday I talked about Reiser4 being updated for Linux 3.14 and now supporting multiple transaction models. For the next Reiser4 patch release it looks like discard support will be added to the file-system.

Ivan Shapovalov has posted a set of patches to the ReiserFS mailing list for implementing discard support within Reiser4. Discard is part of the Trim support for solid-state drives and already supported by most of the mainline Linux file-systems; the feature is about discarding blocks by informing the SSD about blocks that are no longer in use by the file-system.

The Reiser4 discard support is to be exposed via mounting the Reiser4 file-system with the discard mount option. The initial five patches for this support can be found via the reiserfs-devel list.
