Epic Games Is Making An Unreal Tournament Announcement
Next week there's set to be an announcement concerning the very popular Unreal Tournament game franchise in relation to Unreal Engine 4.
Mark Rein of Epic Games tweeted on Friday, "I love #UnrealTournament - So excited for the comeback! https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=unreal+tournament+multikill+sound ... More next week!"
He then later pointed to a tweet by Paul Meegan of Epic Games, "UE4 Dev Community + Epic. The future of Unreal Tournament. Tune in to http://www.Twitch.tv/UnrealEngine Thursday at 2pm ET. #unrealdev #FirstBlood"
Presumably this will be about an "Unreal Tournament 4" or other UT game update now powered by the Unreal Engine 4 game engine. We can only hope that this time it will feature a native Linux client... In the past the Unreal games have had Linux ports up until the Unreal Tournament 3 controversy where a Linux port was announced, Ryan Gordon was working on the port and had it running on Linux, but then it was ultimately killed off for unknown reasons to the public, and never released. Fortunately, Unreal Engine 4 already has Linux support so hopefully we will see a native Linux client of whatever this forthcoming Unreal game is, especially considering the days of SteamOS. We'll hopefully find out next week Thursday during the UT announcement.
