Freedreno Gains Support For The Adreno 330
In a commit made by Freedreno creator Rob Clark on Sautrday morning, the Adreno 330 is now supported alongside the Adreno 320. The A330 isn't too different from the Adreno 320 but has a higher clock speed and other slight alterations while being found in the Snapdragon 800 SoC.
The Snapdragon 800 SoC with quad-core Krait 400 CPU powers mobile devices like the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX, LG G2, LG Nexus 5, Samsung Galaxy J, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Nokia Lumia 1520, and various other mobile devices.
As shared in Freedreno ARM GPU Driver Keeps Hitting Milestones, Rob Clark is already beginning to explore the changes needed for supporting the brand new Qualcomm Adreno 420 graphics core. The A420 should be really interesting on the mobile front since it pushes the Snapdragon's GPU from being DirectX 9 class hardware to now DirectX 11.1 and also features much improved performance.
