GNOME 3.12 Might Be Delayed Until Wayland 1.5

GNOME developers are looking at delaying the official release of GNOME 3.12 until the Wayland 1.5 release that should happen in April.

Matthias Clasen of Red Hat has shared that the GNOME release team is evaluating moving out the 3.12.0 release by about one week to align with a near-final Wayland 1.5 release. Wayland 1.4.91 is expected to arrive around the first of April and with it will come all of the xdg-shell API Interfaces sought after by the GNOME developers in their enhanced Wayland support for this next desktop release.

GNOME developers are still pondering this change, which would also shift all forthcoming development milestones by one week, but more information can be learned from this mailing list post.
