With the start of a new month comes some new statistics out of Valve's Steam Hardware/Software Survey that concerns Linux gamers.

The January numbers for Linux in the Steam Hardware Survey end up nailing the Linux usage below 1% -- about 0.9%. This is about 0.2% lower than it was for December 2013.

The statistics in full can be viewed at SteamPowered.com. You can speculate all you want why the Linux Steam usage was on the decline last month, but in the end it's not too worrisome at this point since it's just one month, Valve remains very committed to the success of Linux for gamers, SteamOS is still in early beta, and the Steam Machines haven't actually been released yet, so take these numbers as you wish.
