The First CryEngine Game Planned For Linux

Many Phoronix readers have been writing in recently about Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a successfully-funded Kickstarter game powered by CryEngine that promises a Linux port.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a game on Kickstarter that still has one month to go until its deadline looms but already has raised £351,387 of its £300,000. The game is described as a "Realistic single-player RPG set in the medieval Europe. Open-world sandbox with period accurate melee combat. Dungeons & no Dragons."

The game is planned to be released in Q4'2015 on PC, Mac OS X, and Linux platforms. Assuming no other CryEngine game makes it out in over the next year, Kingdom Come: Deliverance would be the first.

It was back in 2012 that I exclusively reported CryEngine 3 natively has a Linux port but hasn't been publicly featured or taken advantage of by any licensees. I stand by that report and then last year Crytek was hiring a Linux coder. At long last it looks like we might finally be seeing some CryEngine games publicly surface for Linux.
