New ARM Platforms Supported By Linux 3.14 Kernel
Most of the ARM pull requests for the Linux 3.14 kernel merge window were submitted today. With the ARM SoC platform changes the noteworthy support that's been added includes:
- HiSilicon has their first SoC supported by the mainline Linux kernel. HiSilicon is a Chinese-based manufacturer created by Huawei to produce ARM SoCs. HiSilicon's first ARM SoC supported by the upstream kernel is "some random numerical product name."
- The Silicon Labs EFM32 ARMv7m embedded platform now has upstream support.
- Marvell Berlin SoCs now have upstream support. The Marvell Berlin support covers the chip inside Google's Chromecast device.
- The Moxa ARM industrial platform is supported by Linux 3.14.
- Freescale's i.MX50 SoC is now supported too.
While not new, the Linux 3.14 kernel also has SMP support for Allwinner Sunxi platforms and Renesas platform improvements. There's also the random assortment of other changes and improvements for other existing ARM platforms.
