UBUNTU
Mark Shuttleworth's proposal for a six week delay has passed. It is now official by the Ubuntu community that the next installment of Ubuntu -- Dapper Drake v6.04 -- will now be delayed until June 01, 2006. The original April 20 launch was canceled for this six week delay in order to have extra time to fulfill a few additions. Ubuntu Dapper Drake is slated to be their first Enterprise-grade release for desktop and server usage. The six week delay will make time for an additional three weeks of bug-fix-only quality assurance, improve localization for Asian (and other) languages, user interface polishing, Xfce inclusion to the main repository, insurance LSB certification, wider testing of Ubuntu server kernels and server features, improved LiveCD testing. More information on Mark Shuttleworth's remarks can be found here.
