NVIDIA Updates Its 319 Linux GPU Driver
NVIDIA released today the 319.82 binary Linux graphics driver with new graphics card support and handling for the X.Org Server 1.15 release.
NVIDIA's latest release series is the 331.xx series (soon to hopefully be replaced by a newer version) while NVIDIA continues maintaining the 319 series as a long-lived branch. NVIDIA has put out 319.82 to provide new GPU support and X.Org Server 1.15 compatibility, the new xorg-server that was released one month ago and will begin appearing in new Linux distributions.
The X.Org Server 1.15 support has already been found in NVIDIA's newer driver series. Going back to early December were NVIDIA legacy driver updates to offer ABI compatibility with the new X.Org Server version.
The new hardware support is for the GeForce GTX 780 Ti, GeForce GTX 760, GeForce 820M, Tesla K40m, Tesla K40c, Tesla K40st, and Tesla K40s. These consumer and professional graphics processors have already been supported by newer NVIDIA Linux graphics drivers, this is just back-porting to the 319 stable series.
Those interested in the NVIDIA 319.82 Linux graphics driver can download it at NVIDIA.com. Now hopefully in the coming days they will have out a new mainline Linux graphics driver update...
