Rasterman: Enlightenment To Have Full Wayland Support

Enlightenment on Wayland has been progressing as noted in a Phoronix article this weekend after days of discussion within the Phoronix Forums.
This weekend I emailed Carsten Haitzler to find out if he had anything new to say about Enlightenment's plans for Wayland, to which he responded, "we're building a full wayland compositor - ie kms/drm (no x underneath). e18 (git) already handles wayland clients in x11. we're working on wayland support already. for the future we expect to have a fully working wayland compositor/wm/desktop."
So basically for Enlightenment E18, which is already in feature freeze and will hopefully be released this calendar year, there is initial support. However, for the future they are aiming for their own Wayland compositor (thus not relying upon Weston either), but it's not known when that will arrive and not hopefully as long as it took for E17 to be officially released. Enlightenment developers have already expressed in the past as well that they aren't interested in supporting Canonical's Mir Display Server for Ubuntu.
Rasterman also recommends Phoronix readers check out their Wayland Wiki page about the topic, but as of publishing it hasn't been updated in about two months.
