XBMC Now Runs Well On Wayland
Sam Spilsbury, the Compiz developer and former Canonical employee, has made progress in being able to run the XBMC media application directly on Wayland.
Sam Spilsbury earlier in the year made an initial XBMC port to Wayland. The early port relied upon hacks and using the Wayland SDL port for making XBMC work on the experimental display system. Now, however, through the Google Summer of Code there is better support. This new XBMC Wayland version can use the Wayland client interface directly and should no longer be crashing while all around be working a lot better.
A pull request has been submitted for this initial Wayland compositor support. Sam has written about the XBMC Wayland improvements on his blog.
