LIBREOFFICE
For nearly two years there's been a feature branch of LibreOffice to provide an OpenGL-based canvas implementation to LibreOffice. This OpenGL canvas has now finally been merged into the open-source office suite.

Complementing the OpenGL 3D slide transitions support is now an OpenGL canvas component for LibreOffice to take advantage of GPU acceleration. Having an OpenGL canvas complements the Cairo canvas back-end that's already been in LibreOffice but is showing its age and doesn't see much new activity for improving the hardware acceleration.

The LibreOffice OpenGL canvas implementation currently works on Linux while the OS X support should come "easy" and the Win32 support is said to be "eventually" according to the SUSE Linux developer.

The commit adding the new nearly 5,000 lines of code OGL canvas can be found via Anzwix.
