Canonical Plans For Usable Ubuntu Phone By Month's End

By the end of May, Canonical's engineering team believes the Ubuntu Phone software will be good enough for day-to-day use. The definition of they're aiming for is to make/receive phone calls, make/receive SMS messages, browse the web over WiFi and 3G, switch between WiFi and 3G connections, working proximity sensors, support for importing contacts (from "somewhere") as well as adding/editing contacts, and updating the phone while retaining all user data.
Canonical's Rick Spencer made these Ubuntu Phone comments on his blog.
