NVIDIA Releases Updated VDPAU Library (v0.6)
NVIDIA's Aaron Plattner released version 0.6 of the libvdpau open-source library before calling it a week.
NVIDIA's libvdpau provides a library wrapper that loads the correct vendor-specific implementation of the video decode/encode library and also provides a tracing library to help with debugging applications using the Video Decode and Presentation API for Unix.
The VDPAU library isn't very exciting, but important nevertheless. The libvdpau 0.6 release takes care of building the library with a non-standard DRI2 protocol (dri2proto) location and fixes for a bug that causes XCloseDisplay to crash if creating a VDPAU device and closing the VDPAU library before closing the display connection. The new libvdpau release is as easy as that; the release information on libvdpau 0.6 can be found on xorg-announce.
