Mageia 3 Beta 1 Surfaces For The Holidays

Mageia, the offspring of Mandriva Linux, is preparing for its third release and will present a number of new Linux features for 2013. Mageia 3 is shipping with an updated version of systemd, is already based upon the Linux 3.7 kernel, now uses OverlayFS for building LiveCDs, the /usr migration is going forward, packages are now being compressed with XZ rather than LZMA, KDE 4.9.90 is available on the desktop along with GNOME 3.6.2, and RazorQt is also available as an alternate desktop environment. The RPM package management solution has also seen updates for Mageia 3 Beta 1.
