Everything is set for the long-awaited Enlightenment E17 v1.0 release to happen this Friday, 21 December.

We have known since last month that the Enlightenment camp has been plotting to do their release at the end of the Mayan calendar. It's still on for having this release out after the window manager was in development for more than the past ten years.

Put out today was an E17 Release Candidate that's codenamed "OMEGA 12." In announcing this release candidate, Mike Blumenkrantz reaffirmed that the release will happen as planned. "Today's release candidate of E17, OMEGA 12, is the last pre-release; on Friday we will see the final release of Enlightenment DR 0.17."

For more details and the change-log on this release candidate, visit the new Enlightenment.org web-site.

You can participate in celebrating the E17 1.0 release by coming to the Phoronix New York City meet-up this Friday.
