Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Is Coming To Linux

The year 2013 is looking to be the year of Linux gaming and Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition of Overhaul Games will be among the native Linux titles. Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition is a remake of the original Baldur's Gate role-playing game and its Baldur's Gate Tales of the Sword Coast expansion. The game was released last month for Windows while the Mac OS X port is expected this month.
Besides remaking the original game and boasting improved graphics for the popular RPG, the enhanced copy also features downloadable content, modding support, and other additions. This new Linux game is powered by the Infinity Enhanced Engine, which was originally developed by BioWare.
Confirmation of the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition officially coming to Linux was made via Twitter. Trent Oster, the Creative Director on the game, tweeted: "I have just signed the #Linux #BGEE agreement. Waiting on counter-signature. Here we go!" At this time there's no expected release date for the Linux port but it will likely be a few months out.
