Doom 3 Dante Engine Runs Faster With GLX Over EGL
Oliver McFadden spoke on Wednesday during the X.Org Developers' Conference about Dante, his open-source project that's derived from id Software's released id Tech 4 code-base.
While one of his changes to the conventional id Tech 4 code-base is that he introduced EGL support for Dante, which allows the game to then run on some mobile devices plus (along with OpenGL ES 2.0 support) allows for moving to Wayland. However, as talked about during the presentation, using EGL leads to noticeably slower performance than using GLX.
