Mono 2.11.3 Packs In Microsoft's Entity Framework

Running fresh off $12M USD in funding, Miguel de Icaza's Xamarin has released their fourth preview release of Mono 2.11.

Mono 2.11 has already brought many changes while with the new 2.11.3 release the big feature is the integration of Microsoft's Entity Framework. The Microsoft Entity Framework is an object-relational mapping framework for .NET that Microsoft recently open-sourced under the Apache 2.0 License. ADO.NET Entity Framework as it's officially known allows developers to create data-access applications designed against a conceptual application model rather than against a single targeted relational database schema. The open-source announcement was made last month via the ASP.net blog and it's now been incorporated in the Mono world for open-source .NET on Linux and other platforms.

Mono 2.11.3 packs in 349 new commits that add in 15,533 lines of new code while dropping 3,717 lines of code.
