Qt 5.0 Work With One Month To Feature Freeze
Besides monitoring the Linux kernel merge window for its interesting features, another project with an active merge window worth tracking right now is for Qt 5.0. The merge window on Qt 5.0 will close at the beginning of February.
Lars Knoll of Nokia sent out a reminder email this morning that there's just one month left until the feature freeze for this major Qt5 tool-kit update will go into effect. In that email he also brings up the discussion about what the feature freeze should mean and how it should be handled, under this new Qt Project structure.
For those wanting to see about some of the Qt 5.0 work, see the 5.0 feature targets Wiki page for some of the technical items. Qt 5.0 has the V8 JavaScript Engine, graphical advancements, better platform abstraction (Wayland Display Server support), and other features. A feature overview of Qt 5.0 can be found from the tentative Qt 5.0 developer documentation. Qt 5.0 can also be made for use in web applications inside your browser.
To find out more or give the early Qt 5.0 code a shot, the source-code is accessible from the Qt5 Git repository. Qt 5.0 will be officially released later in 2012.
