Ubuntu 12.10 Codenamed The "Quantal Quetzal"
Mark Shuttleworth announced the codename this morning to Ubuntu 12.10. This Ubuntu Linux release due out in October will be codenamed the Quantal Quetzal.
Mark says via his blog, "I give you the Quantal Quetzal, soon to be dressed in tessellated technicolour, now open for toolchains, kernels and other pressing preparatory packages."
Ubuntu 12.10 will focus on the quality of the popular Linux distribution, among other features.
The Ubuntu 12.10 release schedule puts the official release out on the 18th of October.
Coming up in early May will be the Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal UDS (Ubuntu Developer Summit) out in Oakland, California. I'll be out at UDS-Q providing Phoronix coverage and talking Linux performance/benchmarking.
If you were hoping for a different codename, you're out of luck. This release will have to compete with another creative Fedora codename.
Meanwhile, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" will be released this Thursday.
