Ubuntu 12.10 Release Schedule Published
The Ubuntu 12.10 release schedule has been published this weekend. The official release of this "Precise Pangolin" successor is due out on the 18th of October.
Ubuntu 12.10 has yet to be codenamed for what may be competing with a frankfurter or spherical cow, but the release schedule is at least out now.
As soon as Ubuntu 12.04 LTS is released this Thursday, the Ubuntu "Q" cycle will get going. Key dates for Ubuntu 12.10 development include:
Alpha 1 - 7 June
Alpha 2 - 28 June
Alpha 3 - 2 August
Feature Freeze - 23 August
UI Freeze - 30 August
Beta 1 - 6 September
Beta 2 - 27 September
Kernel Freeze - 4 October
Ubuntu 12.10 Release - 18 October
The Ubuntu 12.10 release schedule in full is available from the Ubuntu Wiki. With this being the first release after an LTS, hopefully it will end up being packed with exciting and worthwhile changes. More details about Ubuntu 12.10 will be discussed at the beginning of May in Oakland, California for the Ubuntu Developer Summit Q. I'll be out there all week at UDS-Q with coverage and talking Linux benchmarking/performance.
