New Version Of Gnash Flash Player Published

Just days after Adobe announced their plans to abandon Flash Player support on Linux, the open-source Gnash Flash Player is out with a new release.

This Free Software Foundation-based Flash/SWF player is up to version 0.8.10 and this latest release offers up many new features, but it's not yet to supporting the latest Flash/SWF specification or what's offered up by the open-source Lightspark alternative for Flash compatibility.

Gnash 0.8.10 provides improved Qt4 GUI support, various user-interface enhancements, new BitmapData functions, various fixes, new button implementations, an OpenVG renderer, improved frame-buffer GUI and touch-screen support, multi-monitor frame-buffer support, refactored input device support, parsing fixes, and double-buffering support for AGG in a frame-buffer.

While there are some enhancements to the Flash support, of more interest to this release is the OpenVG renderer, multi-monitor frame-buffer support, and other infrastructure enhancements.
