A road-map has been published for openSUSE 12.2, which puts this next release out for official availability in July.

OpenSUSE 12.1 was released last November, but in July of 2012 it will be succeeded by the 12.2 release. The openSUSE 12.2 road-map was shared on news.opensuse.org at the same time as announcing that openSUSE 11.3 has reached an end-of-life status.

Below is the official openSUSE 12.1 road-map, which hopefully won't be hit by any delays.
9 February – Milestone 1
3 March – Milestone 2
5 April – Milestone 3
26 April – Milestone 4
24 May – Beta 1
14 June – Release Candidate 1
28 June – Release Candidate 2
6 July – Gold Master
11 July – 12.2 Final Release

With a July release, openSUSE 12.2 should be shipping with KDE SC 4.8, GNOME 3.4, the Linux ~3.3 kernel, X.Org Server 1.12, and other slightly newer packages than Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Fedora 17, which are being released in April and May, respectively.

Stay tuned for more openSUSE 12.2 developments.
