Shadow of Mordor Released For Linux, But Only For NVIDIA Gamers

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is the latest game ported to Linux (and Mac OS X) by Feral Games! This game is now natively available on Linux, but for now the AMD and Intel drivers are not supported.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is an open-world, action-adventure game that premiered for Windows and the game consoles in 2014. This AAA game is quite popular and earlier this year was their Game of The Year (GoTY) edition that was released, which is the version ported to Linux/OSX.

Shadow of Mordor is powered by the LithTech Jupiter EX game engine with Nemesis System and PathEngine. Feral Games commented, "Linux users please note: Shadow of Mordor doesn't support AMD at this time." For this modern, high-profile game, the graphics card system requirement is "1GB NVIDIA 640 DDR3 series card or better with driver version 352.21 or later (tested)." The purchase page also notes, "AMD and Intel GPUs are not supported at this time."

Feral Games is currently selling Shadow of Mordor for $25 USD rather than the usual retail price of $50, with that sale expiring next week. The game weighs in at a hefty 67GB. You can buy the game directly from the Feral Interactive store.

Supposedly the Linux port of Shadow of Mordor does have a benchmark mode, which if that's the case, there will be performance tests on Phoronix in short order.
