Raspberry Pi 7" Touch Panel, SiI9234 To Be Supported By Linux 4.15
This latest batch of miscellaneous Direct Rendering Manager updates include continued core work around atomic mode-setting, HDMI CEC control support for the adv7511 driver, remote control support for the sii8620 driver, improved HDMI and A31 chip support in the Sun4i DRM driver, and some new driver activity too.
First up, Eric Anholt at Broadcom has been writing a DRM panel driver for the Raspberry Pi 7-inch touchscreen. With Linux 4.15 this touchscreen panel will be supported, but there are still some quirks to workaround as well as still needing to write a native input driver for the touchscreen. But at least it's a start and something is mainline.
Also added with this pull request is a Silicon Image SiI9234 bridge driver. This chip converts a eTMDS/HDMI signal to MHL 1.0 and controlled via the I2C bus. This driver is based on work by Samsung.
The list of these latest drm-misc-next changes can be found via the mailing list. There's a lot of DRM subsystem work heading into Linux 4.15, especially if the AMDGPU DC pull request gets honored by Torvalds.
