Live-Patching Doesn't Change Much In Linux 4.1
Jiri Kosina of SUSE is maintaining the kernel's livepatching code and explained in the 4.1 pull request, "These are mostly smaller things that got accumulated during the development cycle. The unified solution is still being worked on and is not mature enough for 4.1 yet."
The unified solution is for fitting the needs of both SUSE's kGraft and Red Hat's Kpatch live-patching solutions that were previously presented last year.
Of the work merged for Linux 4.1, the main addition would be support for the s390 architecture for live-patching. Hopefully there will be more for live kernel patching in Linux 4.2.
