Linux 3.16 Through Linux 4.0 Performance Benchmarks
With Linux 4.0 out the door here are some more performance benchmark results.
From an Intel Xeon E5-2687W v3 Haswell setup with NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN graphics on Ubuntu 15,04, I compared the performance of the mainline Linux 3.16, 3.17, 3.18, 3.19, and 4.0 kernel releases.
The results weren't too incredibly exciting thus just this short one-page article, but you can checkout the big data pool over on OpenBenchmarking.org. There were many features added between Linux 3.16 and 4.0, but the overall performance doesn't seem broadly affected for this Intel Haswell Xeon rig.
