Libreboot Now Supports An AMD/ASUS Motherboard
Libreboot is a new Coreboot downstream promoted by the Free Software Foundation. Libreboot is Coreboot but without any binary blobs. Up to now Libreboot has supported a few select models of the Lenovo ThinkPad and Apple MacBooks. Now, however, there's at least a desktop motherboard working with Libreboot.
A Phoronix reader pointed out to us that the ASUS KFSN4-DRE will work with Libreboot. The ASUS KFSN4-DRE is a dual socket F motherboard with nForce4 Professional 2200 chipset. The board is no longer in production nor will most readers likely have their hands on this dual AMD Opteron board, but it will work with Libreboot now -- it's already worked with Coreboot for a while.
Information on the supported Libreboot boards/laptops can be found via this support page.
