It's Now Easier Trying Out The Latest Git Version Of Intel's Vulkan Linux Driver
For Ubuntu Linux users it's now easier trying out the latest development state of the Intel Vulkan graphics driver.
The Padoka PPA is similar to the Oibaf PPA and commonly used by Ubuntu Linux enthusiasts for running Mesa Git (and LLVM SVN) on modern Ubuntu systems rather than sticking to the stable Mesa releases or rolling your own Mesa build. With the latest Padoka PPA builds, the Intel Vulkan driver is now enabled by default.
So with all your Padoka PPA updates now of Mesa Git will also come the latest snapshot of the Intel Vulkan driver. It can be as easy as apt-add-repository ppa:paulo-miguel-dias/mesa && apt update && apt dist-upgrade to get the latest user-space driver components on Ubuntu systems.
The announcement in the aforelinked thread also says. "Once the AMD guys release their open source vulkan driver, ill add that one too." But so far there's still no indication when AMD will be able to open-source their Vulkan driver (at least nothing to appear that it's imminent), so for now if you are an AMD user wanting Vulkan you will have to rely upon the AMDGPU-PRO hybrid driver stack.
