Arch Linux Performance With The Intel Broadwell NUC5i7RYB

Results have started appearing on of the new Intel NUC5i7RYB that's powered by an Intel Core i7 "Broadwell" CPU.

Compared to the Intel Broadwell NUC5I3RYH that I previously reviewed at Phoronix, the NUC5i7RYB is a much more powerful Broadwell beauty with Core i7 processor. The Intel Core i7 5557U is what powers this NUC and it is a dual-core part with Hyper Threading while having a 3.1GHz base frequency with 3.4GHz Turbo. There's Intel Iris Graphics 6100 and the TDP overall of this package is 28 Watts with a configurable TDP-down of 23 Watts.

This particular Core i7 5557U NUC appearing on is configured with 16GB of RAM and plenty of storage while on the software side it's running Arch Linux with KDE and the Linux 4.0 kernel. These are benchmark results being done by some independent user outside of Phoronix Media but using our open-source Phoronix Test Suite automated benchmarking software.

The start of the independent benchmarks for this high-end NUC can be found via this result file. I'm still looking out though for any results using the Iris Graphics 6100.

Stay tuned to Phoronix as coming up shortly I'll be having some (desktop) Broadwell Linux benchmarks and it looks like my Braswell NUC will be arriving soon. There's also older Broadwell Linux tests for those that missed them from the months prior while the Core i3 Broadwell NUC is also being tested daily on our project.
