Godot 1.1 Engine Release Brings New 2D Engine
Version 1.1 of the Godot Game Engine has been released. This open-source game engine update brings a new 2D engine and claims to be one of the most advanced 2D engines for cross-platform games.
Besides the new engine, Godot 1.1 has improvements to the code editor, a new visual shader editor, a new API for managing multi-monitor support, improved 2D Physics API, a new dark theme, better support for the Blender Collada Exporter, and many other smaller improvements.
The rewritten 2D component to the engine now has support for shaders, materials, independent Z-ordering per-node, lights, shadows with polygonal occluders, normal mapping, back-buffer compositing, improved Isometric TileMap support, and distance-field font support.
