Fwupd 1.9.24 Adds Support For More Mediatek & Parade Tech Devices
While celebrating the 9th birthday of the Linux Vendor Firmware Service, LVFS/Fwupd lead developer Richard Hughes has released a new version of the Fwupd firmware updating utility.
Fwupd 1.9.24 is the newest release for this open-source firmware updating solution used on Linux systems. With Fwupd 1.9.24 there is support for capsule-on-disk for Dell systems, supporting more device IDs of MediaTek scalar devices, supporting Parade Technologies USB hubs, and also supporting the Parade PS185 DP to HDMI adapter for firmware updates.
The capsule on disk support for Dell systems was needing some fixes to the UEFI-Capsule plug-in of Fwupd. Capsule on Disk support is used for delivering UEFI capsules via mass storage devices.
It's a small release overall and not particularly noteworthy outside of Dell systems or if owning an added MediaTek or Parade device, but for those interested you can grab the new release from GitHub.
